§ 38-26. Water meter replacement program.

  • The efficiency of the water billing system and accuracy of water meters is integral to providing rate stability for consumers. As the city deems necessary, water meters will be installed and/or replaced. Customers of the city's water system will be notified of any installation program. Beginning with the first billing period after which the installation program has been initiated and continuing with each billing period thereafter, any customer who has failed, neglected or refused to provide access to allow for the installation of a new water meter, shall be assessed a surcharge in addition to all other charges and fees, as adopted by the council until such time as the customer has provided access to allow for the installation of a new water meter.

Ord. No. 367, adopted Sept. 12, 2011, repealed § 38-26 and enacted a new section as set out herein. The former § 38-26 pertained to enforcement of payment, and charges constitute lien, and derived from § 2.157 of the 1969 Code and § 26-21 of the 1977 Code.
