§ 8-20. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Person includes individual persons acting for and on behalf of themselves and others. The term "person" also shall include partnerships, corporations, joint ventures and all other kinds of businesses.

    Trade, profession, business or privilege means and includes all establishments of any kind, industry, work, commerce, vocations, occupations, enterprises or all other activities of any kind operated or conducted for profit or gain, either directly or indirectly, on any premises in the city or elsewhere in its jurisdiction, except for the isolated sale of personal need items. The term "trade, profession, business or privilege" shall include "home occupations" as defined in the city's zoning ordinance.
