§ 6-57. Violations and penalties; minor violations and fines.

  • (a)

    Any person, firm or corporation who shall fail to comply with any of the provisions hereof shall upon conviction thereof be guilty of a misdemeanor and punished as provided in section 1-7.

    (b)

    Except as provided for in subsection (a) of this section, a person registered under this article who commits a violation of this article that is not a minor violation as described in the general rules or a person not registered under this article who is performing any activity regulated by this article is guilty of a civil violation, punishable by a fine of not less than $1,000.00 per day for each day the violation occurs except that a fine shall not exceed $5,000.00 in total per violation. A second or subsequent violation is punishable by a fine of not less than $2,000.00 per day for each day the violation occurs except that a fine shall not exceed $10,000.00 in total per violation.
