§ 40-91. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Greenbelt means the typical areas described in section 44-25 of the zoning chapter, to wit:

    (1)

    An eight-foot greenbelt shall be a planting strip composed of deciduous trees spaced not more than 40 feet apart and not less than one row of shrubs spaced not more than five feet apart and which grow at least to a height of five feet or more in height after one full growing season, which shall be planted and maintained in a healthy growing condition by the property owner or lessee.

    (2)

    A 20-foot greenbelt shall be a planting strip composed of two rows of deciduous and/or evergreen trees spaced alternately at not more than 40 feet apart and not less than three rows of shrubs spaced at not more than eight feet apart and which grow at least to a height of five feet or more after one full growing season and which shrubs will eventually grow to a height of not less than 12 feet at maturity, which shall be planted and maintained in a healthy growing condition by the property owner or lessee.
