§ 30-36. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:

    Contractor means the party performing work.

    Engineer means the city engineer or such other officer as may be from time to time designated by the city council.

    Inspector means any representative designated by the city council as an inspector.

    Owner means the party holding title to the private property abutting upon the public property.

    Public property means property, whether improved or unimproved of the city and its public highways, dedicated or used by the public for vehicular or pedestrian traffic and for placement of public or private utilities, such as sanitary sewers, storm drains, water mains and storm ditches, such property comprising streets, road shoulders, driveway approaches, curb and gutters, ditches, sidewalks, and parking areas. Public property includes rights-of-way.
