§ 6-61. Electric appeals board.

  • (a)

    The electrical appeals board, also referred to in this article as the board, shall have and hereby is given jurisdiction, subject to review as hereinafter provided, over the inspection of all electrical installations, including changes, repairs and additions thereto within the city.

    (b)

    The board is hereby empowered and it shall be their duty to promulgate and recommend such rules and regulations concerning electrical work in the city as may be required to properly provide for the situations therein. The rules and regulations so made by the board shall be effective upon approval by the city council and the state construction code commission and shall take precedence over plans, specifications and national electrical code rules.

    (c)

    The mayor, with confirmation of council, shall appoint an electrical inspector, who shall be licensed as an electrical journeyman or master electrician, who shall inspect all electrical installations and report to the inspection authority. This jurisdiction shall apply to the installation of electrical wiring, electrical devices, apparatus and equipment for connection to electrical supply systems except as provided in section 6-107(1) through (6) and (8).
