§ 4-108. Rabies control.

  • Any animal which has been bitten by another animal, or which has bitten any person, or which shows symptoms of rabies, shall be penned up immediately by its owner or by the person harboring or having custody of such animal, and the animal control officer shall be notified immediately. The animal shall be quarantined in accordance with state law and rules promulgated pursuant thereto. If rabies does not develop within such period, the animal shall be released to its owner. If rabies does develop, the diseased animal shall be destroyed by the animal control officer in a humane manner.
