§ 4-68. Disposition when suffering from disease.

  • Any animal impounded under this division which appears to be suffering from rabies shall not be reclaimed or sold, but shall be kept under observation for a period not less than ten days; and thereafter if a veterinarian determines that the animal is infected with such disease, such animal shall be destroyed by the animal control officer, or authorized representative, in a humane manner. Otherwise, it shall be subject to reclamation or sale as herein provided. An animal which is suffering from any other infectious, contagious or dangerous disease shall not be sold, but may be reclaimed by the owner to provide proper treatment for such animal.
